
The SMRI Race License School is intended to provide someone that wants to learn about racing with useful information & instruction to help make his or her track experience safer & more enjoyable. The SMRI Race School is the first step towards motorcycle roadracing and is REQUIRED to receive a race license. This is an AMA-sanctioned club license. This license will allow a rider to race events in any AMA sanctioned club.
Good News!! If we get commitment from 6 people who PREPAY 1 WEEK prior to the class... SMRI will offer another school on the July trackday/race weekend!

Who is required to take the Race License School?
- Any individual who has never raced & wishes to.
- Any individual wishing to race & not currently licensed by another recognized roadracing organization. (See rulebook, section 4.2.3 for a list)
**Students must attend the classroom portion of the course before attending the Track Drills. It is recommended that students complete both the in the same weekend.
What is the total cost for the SMRI Race License School?
The cost for the race school is $170. This price includes the classroom session, track drills, mock race, and Super Street race on Sunday.
Are there any additional costs?
For the race school, No. However to race any event other then Open Beginner you MUST have a AMA membership. The cost of the AMA membership is $39 and can be purchased online from the AMA. You must also purchase a SMRI membership which is $125.
What other preparations do I need to make?
-To prepare your bike for the Saturday Track Drills and mock race all lights on the bike must be covered with tape (masking tape, duct tape, or electrical
tape are suggested). This includes the headlight, tail light and turn signals.
-All riders must have one or two piece leathers, gloves that cover the wrists, leather boots that cover the ankles, back protector, and a full-faced helmet.
Leather rentals are available for $25/day.

The Track Drills portion of the class will be held at the Sandia Motorsports Park. Students will need to arrive at the track by 7:00 am in order to have your motorcycle and gear inspected at Tech. On-track drills will begin at 8:00am sharp!
